Pulpit Notes: Eternal Wisdom

Deliver me, Jesus, not only from my own foolish self-centered nature, but also from the undue influence of others.

Turn me instead to the eternal wisdom of Your Word made known in Scripture, the guidance of Your Holy Spirit, and the discernment of prayer. Move me beyond the confines of the present, and liberate me from the tyrants of fear and security that the world offers as alternatives. The future belongs to You alone, O Lord. Allow me, then, to put my trust in You, just as countless generations of saints before me have done. May the fascination of this world become ever more distant, as I spend each day of my journey following You to the Kingdom on the horizon.  Amen.
