Thanksgiving Food Collection

As Thanksgiving approaches, the Mission and Urban Ministry of Shadyside Presbyterian Church invites members and friends to participate in a food collection for the Food Pantry at the East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM), which is experiencing an increase in food requests. Bags for donations will be distributed after worship on Sundays, November 14 and 21. A list of suggested donation items will be attached to the bags (please see below for suggestions). Filled bags will be collected at our Thanksgiving Eve service of worship on Wednesday, November 24.

If you are unable to attend the service, you are welcome to participate by bringing your bag to the church office during the week of Thanksgiving. If you prefer to make a monetary donation, checks should be made payable to “Shadyside Presbyterian Church” with “EECM Food Collection” on the memo line, and placed in the collection on Sunday, November 21, or on Wednesday, November 24. You may also mail your check to the church office. Alternatively, you may give online at www.shadysidepres.org/give by selecting “EECM” from the drop-down fund menu.

Please consider serving the community in this simple but critical way.

Non-perishable food and other items to consider:

• Cereal (low sugar, high fiber)
• Canned tuna or salmon (packed in water)
• Fruit or vegetable juice (100%, any size)
• Canned beans
• Canned vegetables
• Peanut butter

Please note that EECM appreciates no glass.
