As Thanksgiving approaches, the Mission and Urban Ministry of Shadyside Presbyterian Church (SPC) invites members and friends to participate in drive-through collections supporting our partners.
The Hunger and Homelessness Mission Action Community (MAC) of SPC will collect non-perishable food items for the East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) Food Pantry, which is experiencing an increase in food requests. (A list of suggested donation items appears below.) During the following collection times, participants may pause in the circular driveway to get out of their car and pass off donation items to volunteers, or they may simply pop the trunk, and volunteers will remove the donations from the vehicle.
- Thursday, November 19: 12:00-1:00 p.m.
- Sunday, November 22: 9:00-10:30 a.m.
- Tuesday, November 24: 12:00-1:00p.m.
If you prefer to make a monetary donation, checks should be made payable to “Shadyside Presbyterian Church” with “EECM Food Collection” on the memo line, and mailed to the church, or you may give online at www.shadysidepres.org/give by selecting “EECM” from the drop-down fund menu.
In addition, Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard needs coats for the vets who spend days and nights outside in the elements. During the collection times above, SPC’s Community Partnerships MAC will accept new or gently-used winter coats for men and women (sizes L, XL, and XXL, please).
Please consider serving the community in this simple but critical way. Questions may be directed to Rev. Todd Leach, to any member of the Hunger and Homelessness MAC, or to any member of the Community Partnerships MAC.
Note: Thanksgiving Eve worship is online only. Join us for a virtual service on Wednesday, November 25, at 7:00 p.m. Learn more.
