Pgh. East CROP Hunger Walk
October 9, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT
The Pittsburgh East CROP Hunger Walk is an ecumenical event designed to raise consciousness about world hunger and to raise money to combat hunger. The walk will be held on Sunday, October 9, and begins at the South Avenue United Methodist Church in Wilkinsburg. Registration begins at 1:00 p.m., and the walk begins at 2:00 p.m.
Participants, sponsors, and prayers are greatly needed. Since this is also an intergenerational event, we need people of all ages to participate. The walk is six miles, with an alternative one-mile walk offered; both walks begin at the South Avenue United Methodist Church in Wilkinsburg.
Seventy-five percent of the money raised by the walkers and their sponsors goes to Church World Service for its national and international relief efforts to fight hunger and poverty. The remaining twenty-five percent is returned to assist the local mission work of the Wilkinsburg Community Ministry. In 2021, the Pittsburgh East CROP Hunger Walk raised more than $24,000. This year, the group hopes to raise $25,000.
To participate, please contact Paul Brown through the church office. For more information, you may wish to visit the Facebook page of the Pittsburgh East CROP Hunger Walk or the CROP Hunger Walk website.
