Pittsburgh Camerata Concert

September 29 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

A Whitman Sampler

Music in a Great Space begins its 27th concert season with the Pittsburgh Camerata singing choral settings of the poetry of Walt Whitman.

It has been suggested that Whitman’s poetry has been set to music more than that of any other American poet except for Emily Dickinson and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Some call Whitman a latter-day successor to Homer, Virgil, Dante, and Shakespeare. Whitman’s poetry celebrates democracy, nature, love, and friendship.
