“Paws” to Give Thanks for Pets

On October 4, many Christian denominations observe the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, who is often remembered as the patron saint of animals. This month, as the Church honors his ministry, we give thanks for the blessing of animals and pets in our lives. On Sunday, October 22, at 3:00 p.m., please join us on the McClintock Lawn as Shadyside Presbyterian Church gathers for a Blessing of the Animals. Friendly pets of all sizes, shapes, and species are welcome. For everyone’s safety and to reduce stress on our pets, please keep all dogs on leashes and cats and other smaller pets in carriers. You are invited to bring a photograph of pets who would be more comfortable at home. Treats for pets and their people will be provided. Whether you have a pet, a favorite stuffed animal, or just want to make some new friends — furry, four-legged, or otherwise — we hope you will “paws” with us as we return thanks to God for our animal companions.
