Curiosity and Creativity in the Christian Identity
Dave Bindewald, Guest Speaker
You are invited to join us this fall for the Shadyside Presbyterian Church Annual Retreat. This congregational event will be a casual opportunity both to engage in spiritual formation and to experience a time of fellowship and sanctuary in a natural setting that embodies the beauty of God’s creation.
Please consider joining us for the evening of Friday, November 2, through the afternoon of Saturday, November 3, at Crestfield Camp and Conference Center, just an hour’s drive north in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. We would love for you to join your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ for a time of fun, contemplation, fellowship, and spiritual growth.
To register, please complete the registration form, and submit it along with payment to the church office in an envelope marked “Retreat” by Friday, October 19, 2018.
Everyone is invited to attend this event, members and non-members. Experiences will be geared toward all ages, including adults, children, youth, college students, and young adults. Childcare and children’s activities are provided.
Guest speaker Dave Bindewald, founder and director of the Center for Play and Exploration, will lead us in a weekend full of creativity and curiosity grounded in our Christian identity. Dave is a familiar friend to Shadyside Presbyterian Church. From 2007 to 2011, he worked as a Campus Ministry co-worker with Carnegie Mellon University students through the Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO) partnership at Shadyside Presbyterian Church. In 2016, Dave founded the Center for Play and Exploration and currently serves as director. His training in education, theology, psychology, and philosophy have led him to a fascination with the power of curiosity to unlock potential in people and organizations. Dave’s experiences with the Center have convinced him that human life and work can be an act of playful exploration.
Curiosity and Creativity in the Christian Identity — a congregational retreat for Shadyside Presbyterian Church. There will be opportunities for campfires, walks, exploring one’s faith, and time for communing with God.
