Rebecca Reeder

Rebecca Reeder (née Verley) came to Shadyside Presbyterian Church (SPC) in 2011 as Campus Ministry staff working with Carnegie Mellon University students. During her tenure working with SPC in partnership with the Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO), Rebecca also began to sense a call to ordained ministry.

“Working for the CCO and SPC provided me the opportunity to do what I love and am gifted at  — engaging in life and walking in faith with college students as they grow closer to Christ and helping to guide them along the way,” says Rebecca. “During my employed time at SPC, I also saw how God is working in the broader church, and I felt called to participate in that work.”

“Looking back at my four years of college, and seven years in campus ministry, I can see the practical, fun, and sometimes odd ways in which God has prepared me for ordained, pastoral ministry.”

A graduate of the University of Virginia, Rebecca received her undergraduate degree in Engineering Science. She is in her senior year of the Master of Divinity program at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, and she is also a Candidate for Ordination with the PC(USA) under care of SPC. This year, Rebecca is serving in her field education internship with Central Presbyterian Church in Tarentum, Pennsylvania.
