Music in a Great Space: Chanticleer

02/24/ 4:00 pm

Music in a Great Space 20th AnniversaryMusic in a Great Space proudly presents Chanticleer in a special anniversary concert event on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at 4:00 p.m.  Tickets are no longer available for this event.

The 20th anniversary season of Music in a Great Space culminates with the return of the ever-popular Chanticleer, known the world over as “an orchestra of voices.” As our series celebrates two decades of existence, “the world’s reigning male chorus” celebrates its own 35th anniversary season. Praised by the San Francisco Chronicle for its “tonal luxuriance and crisply etched clarity,” the Grammy® Award-winning ensemble will grace our series once again, presenting choral music from around the world, of the highest quality.

ChanticleerThe seductive and irresistible songs of the sirens – sometimes fateful, sometimes fatal – fill Chanticleer’s 35th anniversary program.  Renowned Chinese composer Chen Yi sounds the call in her own inimitable language, and celebrated Irish composer Michael McGlynn channels the song of the spirits of the Blasket Sound.  With these world premieres will be works by Bates, Vaughan Williams, Barber, Gesualdo, Corigliano, and more.

Information on additional Music in a Great Space concerts is available here.  Please note that, due to the different ticket levels available for the anniversary concert, a season subscription does not include a ticket to attend Chanticleer's performance. Tickets for the February 24 concert must be ordered individually.  (Tickets for Chanticleer are no longer available.)
