Summer YAd/Grad Study Series – Social Sins

Series Description: Too often we conceive of sin as only a personal problem. We think of sin as those transgressions we commit as individuals, often against specific individuals. However, “social sins” exist in our world, and their effect is as disastrous to its victims as all our sins are to our relationship with God. This study series explores the social sins most rampant in our culture today, including racism, sexism, homophobia, poverty/homelessness, and incarceration/recidivism. We are blessed to have a number of guest speakers well versed in each of these areas to lead us through the study of not just how these sins impact society and our (often unwitting) participation in them, but also how the grace of Jesus Christ is breaking into this sin-sick world.

Sunday, July 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Hulme Room –
Homophobia, led by Rachel Jacobson
