SHADYSIDE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

Shadyside Presbyterian Church has always had a strong history of educating people of all ages in our faith. In fact, the church began as an extension Sunday school for East Liberty Presbyterian Church. With its roots in Christian learning, Shadyside Presbyterian Church clearly has never forgotten its origins, as it continues an emphasis on education – from the littlest among us to the most mature. For over half a century, the Shadyside Presbyterian Church Nursery School has been teaching pre-schoolers and introducing them to the joys of learning. On the other end of the spectrum, we continue to develop our unique relationship with the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, where our senior pastor, the Reverend Dr. M. Craig Barnes, is also the Meneilly Professor in pastoral leadership. This exciting new model of community between the theological academy and our congregation offers many benefits – including expert instructors for our adult education classes, and our seminary intern program, which helps develop pastors-in-training.
