Michael Painter

Michael PainterMichael Painter began serving as Assistant Organist at Shadyside Presbyterian Church in October 2011.  A native of the Pittsburgh area, Michael began piano study at age 11.  In 2001, he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in Sacred Music and Organ from Seton Hill University.  His primary professors were Ed Highberger (organ) and Ed Kuhn (piano).  Further organ study awarded him a Master of Music in Organ Performance from Indiana University, Bloomington, under the tutelage of Dr. Marilyn Keiser and Dr. Larry Smith.  Since completion of his education, Michael has served as director of music at two parishes: a Roman Catholic parish in the Diocese of Greensburg and a large Episcopal Church in Vienna, Virginia.
