“Out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water.” (John 7:38)

Lord Jesus, in the previous sentence you made it pretty clear that you are the living water.  And the next sentence claims that it is the Holy Spirit who makes you flow out of my heart.  So that means I’ve got both you and the Spirit at work within my heart.

That is a good thing, because my heart can get pretty messed up on its own.  There is certainly a whole lot of stuff flowing out of it that I doubt you want to take responsibility for.  There is a great deal of fear, envy, and so many competing agendas that, most days, it feels like my heart has a bad committee meeting going on inside it.

I know the plan is for the Spirit to allow you to flow out of my heart that I may be a blessing to others.  I just hope your living water can get the place cleaned up before you flow out.  Amen.
