Jesus, these words seem so severe.  A Gentile woman asked you to heal her daughter, and you told her that it was unfair to take the food that was destined for the Jews and give it to us Gentile dogs.  Really?

The amazing thing about this passage is that the Gentile mother did not demand her rights to have a place at the table.  Instead, she just mentioned that even the dogs are allowed to eat the crumbs that fall from the table.  Wow.  Apparently it even wowed you, because you then commended her faith and healed her daughter.

Thank you for not giving me what is fair.  When it comes to God, the last thing I want is what is fair.  I don’t deserve your healing grace, but I do desperately need it.  Any crumb will always be enough to restore me.  Amen.
