The Reverend Dr. John E. Mehl
Interim Associate Pastor for Parish Life
In January 2008, Dr. John Mehl again joined the ministerial staff of Shadyside Presbyterian Church. He serves the congregation part-time as the Interim Associate Pastor for Parish Life while a Nominating Committee searches for an associate pastor to fill the position formerly held by the Reverend Calvin C. Wilson, who retired at the end of 2007.
Dr. Mehl’s primary responsibility will be coordinating congregational care, as well as calling on shut-ins and members who are hospitalized. He previously served as an interim staff member at Shadyside (between 2002 and 2004).
A retired member of Pittsburgh Presbytery, Dr. Mehl has worked with several congregations in the area and, for sixteen years, was the Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. His most recent assignment was as the interim pastor at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Mt. Lebanon. He is married to Peggy Ross Mehl, a long-time member of our Chancel Choir.
